I like how this zine uses a combination fo hand written and printed text in its imagery. There aren’t many zines that use much if any text at all but i always think it makes them more interesting and hold your attention for longer

This is my own illustration, it can be easily seen that i have taken inspiration from both comic book art and film noir

Comic book art is always an open avenue to be explored in these types of projects as it allows for any subject matter to be portrayed in any style. The mood can fluctuate so much from piece to piece it can be used to encapsulate anything.

This is a graphic from the advertising of the computer game Max Payne. I like how the graphic look almost from film noir and has less depth but is replaced by a stronger mood. It is an effective way of creating an image which is much more eye catching.

This zine from Brainscan number 19 is a ‘surprisingly text heavy’ zine. I liked how even though the text that has used is types it uses a typewriter style it has been cut out and stuck down almost like a ransom note. It keeps the mood informal which ideal for my zine.

This is an example of a zine from Elaine Perlov that uses hand written text to give an i unprofessional comic book look. I think this could work quite well as it can give a intimate feel to the magazine. I think that this style will be more quickly embraced by a youth audience.

This is another example of a zine from pambook that has an almost comic book style to the illustration which i like. I think it will be appropriate to my zine because of it being playful and visually interesting whilst still holding enough attention to covey a significant narrative.

Here is a good example of a warning sign that has been satirised by changing the danger of falling objects to an alien, Simple yet effective. It is good at drawing the eye and is simple enough to understand at a glance.
